In the framework of the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council, EFAD and the Swedish Film Institute proposed the exclusive pre-screening in Brussels of the Swedish documentary Breaking Social directed by Fredrik Gertten, on Tuesday 28 March at Cinema Galeries. The event was organised in partnership with the European associations of the culture and audiovisual sector as well as Creative Europe - Media. It was the opportunity to celebrate Swedish cinema and promote the cultural diversity objectives at European level. For the first time, it showed a documentary and shed light on European documentary creation.

The film was introduced by Pauline Durand-Vialle, CEO of the Federation of European Screen Directors. The screening was followed by a Q&A in the presence of the Director, Fredrik Gertten, as well as a cocktail-reception

About the film

Breaking Social uncovers the pattern of corruption and kleptocracy erasing the social tissue, followed by social uprisings. It is the latest feature from the award-winning Swedish director and journalist Fredrik Gertten. Breaking Social was supported by Creative Europe - MEDIA and had its World premiere at the CPH:Dox festival in Copenhagen in March. His latest works Becoming Zlatan (2016), Bikes Vs Cars (2015), Big Boys Gone Bananas! (2012) and Bananas! (2009) have met audiences in over 100 countries and screened at leading festivals.
