In the framework of the Slovenian Presidency of the EU Council, EFAD and the Slovenian Film Center proposed the exclusive screening in Brussels of the Slovenian feature film BEANIE directed by Slobodan Maksimović, on Tuesday 30 November at Cinema Galeries. The event was the opportunity to celebrate the beauty and diversity of European films and the importance of cinemas in a context of strong COVID restrictions.
The film was introduced by Mr Vasko Simoniti, Slovenian Minister of Culture and followed by a Q&A session with the director, Slobodan Maksimović and the producer, Ida Weiss.
The event was organised in partnership with European associations in the culture and audiovisual sector: Coalitions Européennes pour la Diversité Culturelle (CEDC), CICAE - Arthouse Cinema, Cineuropa, the European Children's Film Association, the European Film Awards, the European Producers Club, Europa Cinemas, Europa Distribution, Europa International, FERA - Federation of European Screen Directors, Kids Regio, Society of Audiovisual Authors and UNIC - International Union of Cinemas.
About the film
BEANIE is a family adventure movie telling the story of a boy who has nothing and a girl who seems to have everything embarking on an adventure following fake Santa in the middle of the night. The film is a coproduction between Slovenia, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Croatia that has been supported by the respective national film funds as well as by Creative Europe - MEDIA and EURIMAGES.
