Julie-Jeanne Régnault appointed as EFAD Secretary General

The European Film Agency Directors Association (EFADs) is pleased to announce that Julie-Jeanne Régnault has been appointed as its new General Secretary with effect from 11 March 2019.

Julie-Jeanne previously lead the European Affairs Department at the CNC (Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée), working on the revision of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive, the copyright reform, the Creative Europe programme and competition issues (state aid, and the pay-TV case).

Luis Chaby Vaz, EFADs President, commented: “The Board recognizes her strong expertise in EU affairs, film funding and the audiovisual sector. It also appreciates her experience in association management as well as her in-depth knowledge of the EFADs organization and values. We would like to warmly welcome Julie-Jeanne Régnault as EFADs permanent representative in Brussels and as the driving force of our association”.

Julie-Jeanne said: “I am thrilled to represent the voice of 33 European film agencies and to help strengthen the EFADs’ visibility and influence both at a European and international level. Film agencies are instrumental in supporting the renewal and vitality of European audiovisual creation. They also play a key role in promoting European works in the world. I look forward to strengthening the role of the EFADs as key partners of the European institutions and all those stakeholders sharing the objective of promoting cultural diversity”.

Short biography

A specialist in EU affairs, Julie-Jeanne started her career as a European public affairs consultant before becoming a policy officer at the European Commission (DG Markt). She joined the CNC in 2014 to lead on European Affairs as adviser and then as Deputy Director. Julie-Jeanne holds Masters Degrees in International Relations, in EU public policy and in EU law. She participated in the EAVE Producers Workshop in 2017 (International co-production training). She has taught EU Affairs at various universities and speaks French, English and German.
