The European Commission has launched a consultation on the exercise of rights of performers and producers in the audiovisual sector. Its objective is to gather information and data on current market practices and on the exercise of these rights in order to assess if there is a need for extending their term of protection as required by Directive 2011/77/EU.

"The consultation is targeted at those engaged in the management of rights in the audiovisual sector. It mainly concerns performers and producers who are holders of related rights and their contractual partners such as distributors, sales agents, broadcasters, online platforms and cultural heritage institutions."
